Emily was first introduced to yoga by her mom as a release from the stress that accompanied her studies during law school. As a former lacrosse-player she was initially drawn to the physical challenges of asana, but over time yoga unexpectedly changed the lens through which she saw herself, the world and all those in it. Emily was eager to share the practice with others, so in the Spring of 2013, she completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training at The Giving Tree Yoga Studio in Astoria, New York.
Although Emily enjoys teaching many styles of yoga, the fast pace and many demands of modern living have evolved her teaching style to become more gentle and restorative. She strongly believes in the importance of giving back to our bodies and minds, what ever it may be we take away, to allow the very best version of ourselves to shine through. Each class is designed to welcome all levels of experience, from first time yogis to long time practitioners. You can expect essential oils, mantras and the use of bolsters, blocks and straps!
