Teacher Feature: Bella Prumo

What brought you to Boston?

bellabhy3.jpg

My career - I have two jobs: One as a yoga teacher and the other in the corporate world solving problems / implementing projects. After college, I had job offers in Boston and NYC. Boston felt more like home, so I packed up and moved.

What was your first yoga class like?

My first yoga class was at a local gym in the North End. I had no yoga mat - I used the ‘workout’ one. I was by far the youngest person in the room, but completely felt like I belonged. I have been hooked ever since.

What is your favorite pose to practice and your favorite pose to teach?

Hanumanasana (splits) and pincha mayurasana (forearm stand).  Hanumanasana opens everything up for me and pincha mayurasana is my current challenge pose.  I’ll get it someday, but I like to have something to work towards.

I like to teach arm balances - they get the feet off the floor and you can’t be in your head when upside down. It’s also amazing to see students realize how strong they are. We are all stronger than we think.

Where can you be found when not on the mat?

Lifting weights, beach or eating - I love food.

Fun Fact?

I was born on April fools day.
